Fabulous Yellow Roman Candles

I am enamored of Jack Kerouac, deceased, but in my mind, living and breathing, thirty-six, in the Maldives. He's sober and productive. I wrote him back to life in my latest novel, Perfect Birds.

"The only people for me are the mad ones, the ones who are mad to live, mad to talk, mad to be saved, desirous of everything at the same time, the ones who never yawn or say a commonplace thing, but burn, burn, burn, like fabulous yellow roman candles exploding like spiders across the stars and in the middle you see the blue centerlight pop and everybody goes 'Awww!'

Blogs, the best bloggers know..., are meant to be interactive. So, who are you going to write back to life? Who are you going to offer a second chance to? Inquiring minds (at least mine) want to know.

  1. I'm writing about a girl named Claire Valentine, who's trying to find a better life for herself! She thinks she's got it, but she's going to be surprised in the end! It's not a wonderful novel (not HFLSS worthy). More chick lit, but I'm having fun writing it. She's a silly girl, but she's got a good heart. I hope I like this effort better than my first attempt at writing a novel, because now I look back at it and think it's a load of crap! And one day I hope to write something that's not chick lit. But it's what's in my brain right now. Sigh. :o)

    It's funny to me that you've asked this question. One of the characters in my current WIP is loosely based on a child actor who killed himself a few years ago, only in his mid-twenties, who hadn't been able to get a good part since before he hit 20. I was a tad obsessed with him as a kid, and while I'm bringing back my own version of him--I didn't know him, of course--it's like a silly tribute. But the pantser in me is taking over and I don't yet know his destiny. Hopefully it turns out okay.
